Deddington, St Peter & St Paul
The parish Church of St Peter & St Paul, Deddington is situated on the north side of Church Street close to the Market Place. There is roadside parking nearby.
While the tower is very close to the road the churchyard extends a long was back beyond the end of Church Street. The ringing room is reached by climbing the 46 steps of a stone spiral staircase. The doorway into the staircase is inside the tower. The room has three small windows but is quite light with bright paintwork. In the middle of the ringing circle there is space for the pendulum to swing.

My first visit was on Thursday 21st February 2013 as the third tower
[1st,
2nd,
4th]
of the 280th Mid-week Outing
of the
Four Shires Guild.
The bells were already up when we arrived and the only time that I rang was for a touch of Stedman Triples on bell #5.

My second visit was on Saturday 21st September 2013 as the fourth tower [1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th] of the WDCRA Southern Branch 2013 Tour.
As with my previous visit the bells were already up when we arrived. I rang the Tenor once for Plain Bob Triples and some Rounds & Call Changes on #7. I managed to ring a touch of Stedman Triples on #5 and ended with touch of Grandsire Triples on #6.
I failed to mention on my first visit that the bells are very loud and not very tuneful.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 15-3-3 in F. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Peter & St Paul and more information is provided by the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers.
