Adderbury, St Mary the Virgin
The parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, Adderbury is situated on the west side of Mill Lane in the middle of this sizable village. There is roadside parking on Mill Lane.
The churchyard slopes down on all sides of the church. The ringing room is reached by climbing the 61 steps of a clockwise stone spiral staircase. The doorway into the staircase is in the inside southwest corner of the tower. The room has two windows and a maze of wires in the ceiling for the carillon.

My first visit was on Thursday 21st February 2013 as the second tower
[1st,
3rd,
4th]
of the 280th Mid-week Outing
of the
Four Shires Guild.
We were 20 minutes late getting started due to the late arrival of the local ringer who was to open up. I started by ringing up bell #5 and followed this a little later with a touch of Stedman Triples also on bell #5. The bell had a tendancy to drop if you didn't put in effort to keep it up. I was told by others that this need to work the bell applied to others bells.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 24-0-14 in D. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Mary the Virgin and more information is provided by the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers.
