Churchill, All Saints
The parish Church of All Saints, Churchill is situated, appropriately enough, on the east side of Church Road (B4450) in this small village. We managed to park on Church Road.
The church is in a very visible location and can be seen from miles away. The churchyard is not particularly big but nicely maintained and backs onto the village cricket ground. The church as rebuilt in 1837 and in very good condition. There is an entrance to the ringing room from a stone staircase on the outside north face of the tower. There is another entrance from inside that is reached by taking a wooden staircase to the balcony where there is a door into the ringing room. The balcony area is very nicely finished. The room is not very big and ringing some of the bells is a little awkward. There is limited space to accomodate anyone not ringing but the balcony is just outside the door.

My second visit was on Saturday 21st September 2013 as the sixth, and last, tower [1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th] of the WDCRA Southern Branch 2013 Tour.
I had agreed to run this tower but we were down to eight of us when we arrived which reduced the scope of what we could ring. I rang bells from #3 to the tenor. When ringing up I was on bell #5 and we discovered that the rope on bell #3 was very springy. We rang some Rounds and Call Changes and some Plain Bob Triples. We rang Cambridge Minor on the back six and I had the dubious honour of ringing the treble, i.e. bell #3. I finished by ringing down bell #5 which was awkwardly positioned by a staircase.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 10-3-9 in G. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at All Saints and more information is provided by the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers.
