York, St Olave
The Church of St Olave is just one of many churches in the city of York. It is situated close to the ruins of Abbey of St Mary in York Museum Gardens. The entrance is on Marygate. A the time of visiting the church was undergoing some extensive repair work.
Ringing takes place on the ground floor. The area at the base of the tower is not enclosed and a very high arch connects directly onto the nave.

My first visit was on Saturday 10th October 2015 as the first tower [2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th] of the Offenham ringers outing. We were joined by some York locals to help us out particularly with towers later in the day with more bells. I started by ringing the Tenor for Rounds & Call Changes. Next was bell #4 for a touch of Plain Bob Minor and then the treble for Cambridge. I finished by ringing down bell #2.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing 9-0-14 in G#. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Olave and more information is provided by the Yorkshire Association of Change Ringers.
