Tredington, St John the Baptist
The Parish Church of St John the Baptist [listing] is in middle of Tredington, a small village a couple of miles south of Tewkesbury on a side side between the A38 and the M5. The church is in a nice, well maintained churchyard. The tower is unusual in that it is timber framed an plonked on the roof. Inside there is no sign of the tower other than the bell ropes. I chose to park in a nearby car park at the village hall on the other side of Stoke Road. Parking on Stoke Road would be unwise.
Ringing takes place on the ground floor. As there is no tower per se there is plenty of space to ring the bells. There are several wooden pillars supporting the roof but the area in which ringing takes place is very open and light.

My first visit was on Thursday 16th January 2014 as the first tower
[2nd,
3rd,
4th]
of the 291st Mid-week Outing
of the
Four Shires Guild.
I started by ringing up bell #4 which was followed by a touch of Plain Bob Minor. Later I rang bell #5 for a touch of Grandsire Doubles. Neither bell presented any difficulties.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing 7-2-7 in A. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St John the Baptist. There is some additional information provided by The Gloucester & Bristol Diocesan Association of Church Bell Ringers.
