Armitage, St John the Baptist
The Armitage Parish Church of St John the Baptist is at the end of Church Lane and is bordered on the north side of the churchyard by the Trent and Mersey Canal. There must be some nearby parking but I no not where since I walked the short distance from Mavesyn Ridware. The churchyard is huge and there are a large number of relatively recent gravestones compared with most similar churces.
Ringing is from the ground floor.

I visited for the first time on Thursday 16th June 2011 as the fourth tower

of the 260th Mid-week Outing
of the
Four Shires Guild.
I started by ringing up bell #5 and followed this by a touch of Plain Bob Minor. Although the bells are a light set they rang quite easily.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing 4-2-20 in C. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St John the Baptist and some additional information is provided by Lichfield & Walsall Archdeaconries Society of Change Ringers.
