Bath, Widcombe, St Matthew
The Parish church of St Matthew is situated in the Widcombe district of Bath, south-east of the city centre and just the other side of the River Avon. I walked here from the Abbey so have no idea what parking might be nearby.
In the west side of the the tower there is a small green door which gives access to an anticlockwise spiral staircase of 49 steps that leads to the ringing room. There is a platform for the clock above the treble and #2 which restricts the headroom somewhat.

I visited for the first time on Saturday 12th May 2012 as the second tower
[1st,

of the 2012 Tower Outing
of the Studley Ringers.
There were 11 of us so did not ring as much as when ringing at the Abbey. I rang the Tenor for a touch of Grandsire Doubles and again for some Rounds and Call Changes. I rang bell #3 for some more Rounds and Call Changes and Plain Hunt and finished of by ring bell #4 for some Stedman Doubles and then down.
Quite a contrast to the Abbey, not very tuneful.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing ~12-0-0 in F#. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Matthew, additional information is provided by the Bath and Wells Diocesan Association.
