North Aston, St Mary
The Church of St Mary, North Aston is in the southern part of this small Cotswold village. The church tower is just a couple of feet from North Aston Hall and all that can be seen from the arched window in the tower is a blank wall of the Hall, a pretty stupid arrangement. There is a small parking area at the end of the lane beside the entrance to the churchyard.
The ringing room is quite small and is reached by climbing a short ladder up through a trapdoor. The ringing room has a balcony overlooking the nave.

My first visit was on Thursday 16th May 2012 as the first tower
[2nd,
3rd,
4th]
of the 271st Mid-week Outing
of the
Four Shires Guild.
I started by ringing up bell #5, there was very little room and had to stand with my back against the wall. I followed this with a touch of Stedman Doubles on bell #4.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing 6-1-26 in B. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Mary and more information is provided by the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers.
