Monmouth, St Mary the Virgin
The parish church of St Mary the Virgin is located in the middle of this county town of Monmouth (Trefynwy), beside Priory Street (B4293). There is not much on street parking but there are plenty of car parks.
This is quite a big church but being in the middle of the town the churchyard is not in proportion and quite compact.

My next visit was on Saturday 7th July 2012 as the last tower [1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th (lockout)] of the 2012 Annual Tour of the Four Shires Guild.
This was the last tower of a long day. I rang up bell #6 which was nice to ring. I followed this by a couple attempts at a touch of Stedman Triples on bell #5, neither of which went very well. A pity, a nice church with nice bells but things just didn't go very well, perhaps the lockout at Trellech had affected people's mood, perhaps it was just the end of a long day.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 16-3-1 in Eb. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Mary the Virgin's Church and more information is provided by the Llandaff & Monmouth DACBR.
