Cwmcarvan, St Clement
The parish church of St Clement is located at a fork in the road as you head south into the tiny village of Cwmcarvan (Cwmcarfan). There is supposed to be a church car park in a field but the torrential rains turned it into a quagmire so we had to park in a wide patch of road at the fork, definitely not a desirable location.
It is quite a big church set in a large attractive churchyard. The ringing room is reached by climbing the 37 steps of an anti-clockwise stone spiral staircase (entrance to staircase is inside the tower). The room is very spacious with >20 chairs and four arched windows, one in each face of the tower.

My next visit was on Saturday 7th July 2012 as the fifth tower [1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th (lockout), 7th] of the 2012 Annual Tour of the Four Shires Guild.
I started by ringing up the tenor and followed this with a touch of Grandsire Doubles on bell #4. Both sallies were very low so I was catching above the sally. The bells are not very loud from inside the ringing chamber.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing ~8-0-0 in G. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Clement's Church and more information is provided by the Llandaff & Monmouth DACBR.
