Leigh, St Edburga
The Leigh Parish Church of St Edburga is at the eastern edge of this small village beside Leigh Court Barn and backing on to the River Teme. The only parking is on the roadside and care is needed due to the church being on a bend.
St Edburga's is a Norman church dating from around 1100 but built on the site of an even earlier monastery. The ringing room is reached by climbing a stone spiral staircase of 38 steps when start from inside the tower.. There are square windows on 3 faces of the tower providing natural light.

Four Shires Guild.
As the organiser of this trip I didn't have much time to ring and only managed to ring up bell #4 which seemed fine. We were warned that the Tenor was tricky and this was confirmed by those who rang it.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing 17½ in E. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Edburga and more information is provided by the Worcestershire & Districts Change Ringing Association.
While there was a framed copy of the inscriptions it was a little hard to read though I have done my best to interpret them.
