Areley Kings, St Bartholomew
I rang in this tower as part of a tour in 2004.
St Bartholomew's Church of Areley Kings is a sandstone church set on the top of a hill with lovely views to the North over the river towards Stourport and West towards Wales. The climb up to the ringing chamber is a very narrow spiral staircase which leads into quite a small but cosy room.
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing 8-1-3 in B♭. Once upon a time there were four original bells that, in 1859, were recast into five by George Mears of London. In 1867 a sixth bell by Blews of Birmingham was added but was recast by Mears & Stainbank of London in 1905. Additional information on the Church and bells can be found at Dove's Guide and WDCRA.
