Tysoe, The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary [1, 2] is in Middle Tysoe (previously Church Tysoe). It is set in a large churchyard on the Northwest side on Main Street. I managed to park on a lane on the North side of the churchyard.
The Church is large for the size of the village. The ringing room is reached by climbing a steep wooden stair/ladder and while not as large as I would have expected there is plenty of room to ring the six bells as well as providing seating for another six.
For anyone arranging a tour, there is a toilet.

I visited for the first time on Saturday 8th August 2009 to join the Four Shires Guild of Bell Ringers for their weekly practice session. I rang up bell #4 and while ringing up I could hear some raised voices below. It seems that someone who lives next door to the Church had come to complain about the ringing. We decided that we'd have a few minutes gap between rings and that we would finish 15 minutes earlier than planned. Personally, I cannot understand why anyone who doesn't like Church bells would choose to live right next to a Church!
I rang a touch of Grandsire Doubles on bell #3 that went fine. I also rang a touch of Bob Minor which I got through but got a little confused at time by the position of the Treble. There is a large gap between the Treble and bell #2 which I found a bit disconcerting. I was inclined to think that the Treble was the Tenor!
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing 10-2-13 in F. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and more information is provided by the Coventry Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers.
