Rugby, St Andrew

The parish Church of St Andrew, Rugby is in the middle of this Market Town between Church Street and Little Church Street. There isn't really much in the way of parking by the Church but there are Pay and Display car parks nearby. I parked in one at Gas Street a couple of hundred meters west of the church and it only cost £1 for 3 hours.

The church claims to be unique in having two sets of bells hung for change ringing in its two towers. The older set of five bells are hung in the West Tower, the ringing room is reached by climbing a stone spiral staircase and has white painted walls and 3 smallish windows making it quite a light room. There are a ring of eight bells in the Victorian era North East Tower. The ringing room is reached by climbing another spiral staircase but this time the steps are concrete with a large riser and the walls are brick. The ringing room is also red brick and is spacious with three high windows.

The West tower has a ring of 5 bells with a tenor weighing 9-2-3 in A. Dove's Guide includes details of these bells. The North East tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 24-3-8 in D. Dove's Guide includes details of these bells.

More information about both towers is provided by the Coventry Diocesan Guild.
