Mickleton & Ilmington Ringer's Lunch

The Mickleton (St Lawrence) & Ilmington (St Mary) ringers and their partners enjoyed a traditional Christmas lunch at The White Hart, Newbold-on-Stour, on Sunday 7th December. As usual, Bill Sabin provided an amusing after-lunch speech.

Following Bill, an impromptu Conjuror visit to our table (he was celebrating his 70th birthday) was greatly enjoyed. One of our female ringers appeared to lose some underwear, while another was requested to keep her mouth tightly closed for a while!

Fran Chapman (the lunch organiser) ably supported Bill's speech with an amusing (and true!) limerick, which began:-

and concluded with these two lines:

He usually has no cash,
You've guessed it, it's ………!

A good time was had by all!

John Kinchin

* I am reliably informed the full text is pinned up in one of the Ringing Chambers, where those interested may study the in-between lines and assess the truth — or otherwise —of the Limerick! Ed
