The Grand Old Man reaches 93

In what has now become something of a Guild tradition, Rob Harvey's birthday was celebrated with a quarter-peal of Grandsire Triples at Whichford on Saturday June 18th. It is very pleasing to report that the quarter was accomplished successfully, so that the event was marked in proper and fitting style. Rob had had a cold leading up to the day, so he was under strict instructions from his youngest daughter not to ring this year — or at least not for very long. Rather amazingly Rob did take this advice, so he rang his beloved treble (the bell he donated and which carries his name) for a few rounds beforehand.

After the quarter, the ringers were invited to the Norman Knight pub to enjoy drinks and eats provided by Rob. Details of the quarter are:-

Whichford, Warks, Saturday 18th June, 1260 Grandsire Triples: Chris Povey 1, Ted Copson 2, Richard Lewis-Skeath 3, Trevor Hobday 4, Sally Austin 5, Mick Austin 6, John Nicholls (C) 7, Peter Kenealy 8.
To celebrate Rob Harvey's 93rd birthday (actually on the 19th — and yes, he did reach that day successfully!).
